Roie has been called home by our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Wednesday January 3, 2018 after passing away peacefully in her sleep, surrounded by loving family members and friends throughout the last steps of this journey. For over 4 years, Roie bravely faced a relentless rare cancer, never losing her sweet disposition and her unwavering faith in God. Roie will be greatly missed by her loving husband, Rodney Cornell, children: Robert (Patricia Gayle) Merle, Annemarie Gilbert, Peter J. Merle, William M. Merle, Jeffrey (Allison) Cornell, Rhonda (Andrew Meyr) Cornell, Jennifer Cornell, eleven grandchildren, brothers Sam (Jean) Rivoli and John (Toni) Rivoli, sister Diane (Glen) Mason, and Roie’s extended family, and many close friends through church, Koinonia, scouts, and kids and grandkids sports and activities.
Roie had a great love for people, and with her friendly and outgoing personality, she brought happiness to many people who had the opportunity to meet and know her. Roie worked as a licensed dental hygienist, but her joy was in working with children. She worked in the Spencerport School system and was a Cub Scout Den Mother and Pack Leader.
