Family was especially important to Joe and he was a devoted Father, Papa, and mentor to many.

Joe was a veteran of the Korean Conflict where he achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant and was a combat veteran in the Corps of Engineers. After his service, Joe received a BS with honors in Electrical Engineering from RIT, which he achieved while working full-time and supporting his family. He was a Senior Process Engineer at Delco Products for almost 40 years and a long-time coordinator of Delco retiree luncheons, rarely missing a monthly lunch. Joe was a Delco Junior Achievement Advisor and enjoyed working with youth members. In his retirement, Joe volunteered with the Hearing Loss Association, Rochester Chapter (HLAA) where he was a board member and chair of the NY State Legislative Committee since its inception. Joe received a service award for his tireless commitment to helping others with hearing loss. Joe loved growing tomatoes, golfing, and was especially known for his Italian cooking and love of seafood. He participated in the 2015 Honor Flight Program, and he was overwhelmed with the community support he received when he was welcomed home and honored for service. Joe was a devout Catholic, taking great comfort and pride in his faith and attending weekly mass. He attended the Church of the Annunciation where he volunteered as an usher and in other capacities. He was the breadwinner of his family, sacrificing his needs to put all four of his children through Catholic schools and college. Joe was a life-long mentor to many, and especially enjoyed hosting family and friends at his home for meals. He could always be counted on to lend a helping hand, constantly putting others ahead of himself. Joe was a quiet, gentle, and intelligent person with a big heart. He was so accepting of others and rarely complained. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His family would like to thank the Loving Care Angels of Brookdale Brighton and all of Brookdale Brighton who made his new home so comfortable.

Joe’s visitation will be held from 3:00-7:00PM on Thursday, January 11 at Bartolomeo & Perotto Funeral Home, 1411 Vintage Lane.
