Connie grew up on Smith St. in Rochester, the youngest of 4 siblings. She blossomed and was known as the "The Rose of Smith Street." She had many cousins she considered her best girlfriends who loved to dance at the Stardust Ballroom at Edgerton Park. She also was a huge dog lover.
She traveled by train to Salinas, California to marry her love, Frank Capuano. Connie was an accomplished seamstress who worked at Peggy's Dress Shop while her husband "Cappy" fought in WWII. Connie & Cappy had 4 beautiful children; Frankie, Rosemary, Patrick & Susan. They lived on Driving Park Ave for 57 years. Sadly their oldest son was killed in Vietnam while serving in the Marine Corps.
Connie loved the holidays with family, Christmas Eve being her favorite. Sunday dinners were a mainstay, always at 4PM sharp (...except for her daughter Susan, who she told to be there by 3:30).
Connie always kept busy. At the ripe young age of 76 she took up bowling, but she was an avid gardener her whole life. She always had dogs & cats, once bringing a cat home in a bag after a trip to Wegmans! Connie also often enjoyed her Holy Rosary bus trips. She drove herself to the YMCA until she was 97, 5 days a week!
As far as music goes, she was a fan of Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin. On TV, her number one picks were: All In The Family, Golden Girls, Jerry, Maury Povich, Judge Judy & Forensic Files. Favorite movies included Moonstruck, Stalig 17 & It's a Wonderful Life.
Connie was honest, to the point, easy to talk to, determined, independant, witty & strong with a heart of gold. The Rose of Smith Street will be dearly missed!
