Remembering Thomas Patrick Angora
Thomas Patrick Angora was born on February 1, 1967, in Rochester, New York, to
Thomas Angora Sr. and Patricia Angora, both lifelong Rochester natives. He grew up in
a hardworking, close-knit family alongside his three sisters, Jodi , Laurie, and Elena.
His father, Thomas Sr., was a skilled mason for over 40 years, helping build countless
sidewalks, curbs, and roads throughout the Rochester area. His mother, Patricia, was a
devoted homemaker who dedicated her life to raising her four children.

From an early age, Tom looked up to his father as his greatest role model, shaping his
own path as a man, provider, and father. Even as a child, Tom had big dreams, he once
declared he would run for president someday, and a photo later surfaced of him proudly
predicting he’d run in 2016.

Tom’s personality showed itself early. On his very first day of kindergarten, his mother
worried about how he would adjust but Tom quickly took charge, hopping onto a toy car
and giving rides to several classmates at once. He was a natural leader, even then.
He attended Greece Athena High School, where he excelled in subjects he loved most:
politics, presidents, and history. He later continued his education at St. John Fisher
College. Tom was known for his intelligence and curiosity, he had a knack for
remembering bits of information about almost everything, often jokingly referred to as
“useless knowledge,” though it made him a great conversationalist.

Tom built a strong work ethic early in life and carried it with him wherever he went. He
worked in retail for many years, starting at Fay’s Drugs, then Eckerd, and later Rite Aid
and Walgreens. He was known as someone who was always working, dedicated,
reliable, and committed no matter the job.

It was at Old Daddy’s that Tom first met Charlene more than 30 years ago. However, it wasn’t until 2013 that they became more than coworkers. In 2015, they decided To take a second chance at love and wed on June 26. A year later they added another member to the family, their youngest son Patrick who solidified their new family of 7. Together they built a life centered around love, loyalty, and family. They raised their five children-Tommy, Toni Marie, Gina, Devon, and Patrick-who were the pride and joy of Tom’s life. Tom’s greatest happiness came from spending time with his family. Whether it was fishing on their boat in Irondequoit Bay, vacationing at Honeoye Lake, or simply being together at home, those moments meant everything to him. He considered his closest friends to be his family, and he made sure they always knew how much they meant to him.

He had a wide range of interests and simple joys. He loved watching football, especially
cheering for the Tennessee Titans, and playing fantasy football. He enjoyed running,
fishing (even when the fish weren’t biting), and taking meticulous care of his lawn, which
was one of his favorite pastimes. Around the house, Tom was the go-to handyman,
there wasn’t much he couldn’t fix.

Tom also had a fun and nostalgic side. He loved Hulk Hogan, Elvis, cereal, and talking
politics. His taste in music included artists like Meat Loaf, Queen, Journey, Def Leppard,
and Garth Brooks. His favorite movies and shows ranged from watching nightly bugs
bunny reruns with his son,The Godfather, A Few Good Men to Hogan’s Heroes, Star
Trek: The Original Series, Seinfeld, and SpongeBob SquarePants. He shared his home
with beloved pets over the years, including his German Shepherd Hulk, his Border
Collie Dakota, and his cats JJ and Mystery.

Tom was a man of strong character-loving, kind, hardworking, intelligent,
compassionate, and introverted. He valued honesty and authenticity. He wasn’t one for
large gatherings and never enjoyed losing a game, but he always brought humor and
warmth to those around him. Known for his sayings, Tom would often say, “Finer than frog hair,” or “If I was any better, I’d be twins,” bringing smiles and laughter to everyday moments.

Above all else, Tom was a devoted father. His children were his legacy, and his greatest
wish was for them to know every minute of every day how proud he was of them. He
was more than just a father to his own kids, but also always showed up for Toni and
Devon and always saw them as his own. He didn’t see himself as a stepfather; he was
simply a father in every sense of the word. Tom had a way of making things better. He was often the mediator, the steady presence, the one who could bring calm, clarity, and comfort when it was needed most. Strong yet gentle, funny yet thoughtful, he was truly a “big teddy bear” who never gave up and always made sure his people were taken care of. His impact is lasting. His love, his lessons, and his unwavering support live on throughhis family and all those whose lives he touched. There will never be another quite like him, a man who could make anyone smile and always believed in giving people a second chance.
