Life Story of Randall E. Kaufman
July 2, 1960 – May 1, 2026
Randall E. Kaufman, lovingly known as “Uncle Randy” to so many, passed away on May 1, 2026, leaving behind a legacy defined by devotion, generosity, and unwavering integrity. Born on July 2, 1960, in Rochester, New York, Randall was raised in a close-knit, faith-centered home by his parents, William “Bill” and Marie Kaufman. His father, a proud U.S. Navy veteran, worked for the Town of Greece Highway Department, while his mother dedicated her life to caring for others as both a housewife and a nurse. Together, they instilled in Randall the strong Catholic values and deep sense of family that guided him throughout his life.
Randall grew up alongside his siblings – Peggy Gilbert, Kirk Kaufman (Wendy Zgarba), Ann (Barry) Hendel, and Terry (Joan) Kaufman – in a home where loyalty, discipline, and love were at the heart of everything. From an early age, he developed a reputation for being thoughtful, dependable, and, true to form, a steadfast rule follower. In his late teens, upon meeting his future wife, Bonnie, he was welcomed as a beloved family member of John, Beverly, and Kathleen Neder.
He attended Northwood Elementary School and graduated from Hilton High School before pursuing his passion for design and engineering. Randall earned his AAS in Mechanical Design and went on to become a certified Mechanical Design Engineer. He dedicated 31 years of his career to Xerox as a Design Engineer, followed by 13 years with Advanced Atomization Technology, where his expertise and work ethic earned him great respect.
On August 24, 1985, Randall married the love of his life, Bonnie, after the two met at Darien Lake. Their marriage of over 40 years was a true partnership filled with love, laughter, and adventure. Though they did not have biological children, Randall embraced his role as a godfather with pride and devotion to Brian Kaufman, Kyle Giunta, Kevin Giunta, Ben Kaufman, Kelly Kaufman, Evan Drinkwater and Adam Drinkwater.
Together, Randall and Bonnie created a lifetime of memories traveling to places like Bermuda, Greece, Hilton Head, Disney World, and Myrtle Beach. They also cherished their simpler traditions – especially their Sunday drives, which became a treasured ritual of connection and companionship.
Randall was a man of many passions. A highly competitive golfer and avid card player, he found joy in poker, bridge, board games, bowling, and softball. He was a true connoisseur of fantasy football, where his strategic mind and competitive spirit shined. Known as a “Book of Hoyle” expert, Randall took pride in knowing the rules – and making sure everyone else followed them, too.
A devoted fan of the LA Rams, he also loved music, especially country and rock ballads, with favorites like Styx and Don McLean. He enjoyed relaxing with movies and television, often returning to classics such as The Ten Commandments, Back to the Future, The Fifth Element, Outlander, and The Wizard of Oz.
Randall’s compassion extended far beyond his hobbies. Over the years, he rescued many cats and dogs, always opening his heart and home – most recently to his beloved pets, Kefee and Ella. His kindness also shone through his 20 years of dedicated volunteer work with Villa of Hope, where he mentored and supported displaced youth, leaving a lasting and meaningful impact.
He shared deep and enduring friendships with Ken and Lora Giunta, Wayne and Linda Drinkwater, Tom and Barb Natalie, Paul and Paula Montannarello, and John and Mary Pace – friendships that enriched his life and reflected the loyalty he gave so freely.
Randall often lived by his favorite saying, “Do or do not, there is no try,” a phrase that perfectly captured his disciplined, all-in approach to life. Among those who shaped him most were his Uncle Jerry Britton and his beloved wife, Bonnie, both of whom had a profound and lasting influence on the man he became.
To Randall, life was about faith, family, loyalty, and doing what was right. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, a beloved brother, a cherished godfather, a loyal friend, and a guiding presence to many. His legacy of generosity, mentorship, and steadfast love will continue to live on in all who knew him.
His family encourages all who knew Randall to honor his memory by carrying forward his generous spirit, warm heart, and commitment to others.
