Spencerport, NY. Michael (Mike) passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of August 7, 2026, with loved ones at his side.
Mike is survived by his devoted wife of 47 years, Deb (Hetzer).
A proud and caring father, Mike is survived by his daughters, Kristen (Dan) Ryan of Victor, NY and Laura (Rich) DiPasquale of Greece, NY. Mike treasured and was cherished by his grandchildren, Brennan and Carys Ryan.
Mike’s sisters were always there for him, as he was for them. He will be deeply missed by Sue (Rich) Versluys, Mary (Ken) Yaeger, and Amy (Mike) Sharpe. When Mike and Deb married, he gained three brothers. Mike shared many stories and memories with the Hetzer men: Gary (Penny), Ken (Michele MacFarland), and Jim (Mary Ann).

Mike was predeceased by his parents, Bill and Reggie West; sisters-in-law Pat Hetzer and Anne Marie Hetzer; and nephew John Sharpe.
A dreamer at heart, Mike was a man of hard work, determination, and perseverance. He believed in taking an idea and turning it into something bigger. With courage and grit, Mike built his business, West Fire Systems, from the ground up. He never shied away from a challenge and was always willing to take the next big step, living by the words “Go Big or Go Home.” His entrepreneurial spirit, work ethic, and willpower were an inspiration to those around him.
Mike lived a life filled with love, family, friendship, hard work, generosity, big dreams, and even bigger memories. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him. As Mike would say – “lead with your heart” and “burn the good candles.”
Please join us in remembering Mike and honoring his life.
