Richard “Rick” Cocilova

Passed away September 20th, surrounded by the love of his family.

Richard was predeceased by his parents, Richard and Joan Cocilova; his brother, James Cocilova; his brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Sandy Cocilova; and his brother-in-law, Tony Tarana.

He is survived by his son, Robert (Chelsea) Cocilova, and his beloved granddaughter, Alina Cocilova, who brought tremendous joy to his life. He is also survived by his siblings, John (Kathy) Cocilova and Lorriann Tarana, as well as many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and friends. He will also be missed by his four-legged companions, Cosmo and Tucker.

Rick cherished his role as the eldest brother to his three younger brothers, Jimmy, Bobby, and Johnny and his younger sister, Lorriann. Anyone who knew the Cocilova brothers knew there was truly no bond quite like the Cocilova Brother Bond. That closeness was instilled in them by their parents, Richard and Joan, who taught their children the importance of family, loyalty, and hard work. Growing up, the siblings could often be found together, including working side by side at the family gas station on Main and Plymouth in downtown Rochester. Those years created countless Cocilova family stories and laughs known by many and famous within the family that will continue to be told, laughed about, and passed down for generations.

Rick had a deep love for his family and for sports. Some of his favorite moments were spent talking about and watching sports with his son, Bobby. He also had a love for music and old movies and found happiness in the simple moments spent with the people he loved most.

Above all, Rick treasured being a grandfather. His granddaughter, Alina, held an incredibly special place in his heart. Whether they were spending time together or watching Sesame Street, the bond they shared brought him immeasurable happiness.

Rick will be remembered for his love of family, his loyalty to those he loved, his sense of humor, and the countless stories and memories he leaves behind. His legacy will live on through his family, and through the stories that will continue to be told.

Family is invited to a private burial at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery on Friday, September 25, at 11:00 a.m. A Celebration of Life will follow, where family and loved ones will gather to remember Rick and celebrate his life.
