Reitter, Ellen L. (Lancer) Hamlin: January 10, 2017. Ellen is survived by her husband, Jim Reitter; daughters, Kathleen (David) Peris, Elizabeth (John) Snyder; grandchildren, Carly Peris, Atticus Snyder, Evan Peris ; siblings, Michael (Mary Lou) Lancer, Kathleen (Daniel) Cholish, Patrick (Marge) Lancer, Timothy (Mary Jo) Lancer; many nieces and nephews; aunts, uncles and cousins. Ellen's visitation will be Friday 2-4 & 7-9 at the funeral home, 1411 Vintage Lane (between 390 & Long Pond Rd.). Her funeral service will be celebrated Saturday, 10 AM, January 14th, at St. Lawrence Church, 1000 N. Greece Rd. Internment Private. Ellen was born on December 14, 1952 in Rochester, NY to William and Madeline Lancer. During Ellen's childhood, she attended Good Counsel grammar school. She later graduated from St. Agnes High School. Ellen met her husband at the Varsity Inn on Scottsville Road. They later married at Our Lady of Good Counsel on April 19, 1975. During her adult years, she worked in the Hilton School District as the Assistant to the Principal. Ellen really enjoyed and loved her job. Growing up, she enjoyed Sunday dinners together with her family. Ellen was also known to be a great cook and loved to be the host, always serving her guests. Cooking and baking was her way of bonding with her family. Creating and sharing her homemade meals was her favorite gesture in showing her family how much she loved them all. Everything Ellen made was delicious, especially her Christmas cookies and lasagna, and some of her favorite events in life were hosting Christmas Eve at her home. Ellen would make Christmas a magical and memorable time for everyone, and family would travel from all over to attend. While raising her children, Ellen was active in the activities they participated in, such as volunteering at her daughters' school functions. Some of her favorite T.V. shows were, Law & Order SVU, The Big Bang Theory, American Pickers and MASH. Ellen also enjoyed playing golf during her free time. Her family describes her to be self-less, caring, humble and liked to help others. Ellen was also known to be well-liked, social, hardworking, intelligent, detail-orientated and had lots of friends throughout her life. Ellen will be deeply missed by her family and friends and she will always be lovingly remembered.
