Michele "Mike" D'Angelo Irondequoit, NY Deerfield Beach, FL - January 14, 2020, at the age of 76. Mike is predeceased by his parents, Vittorio Antoinetta. He leaves behind his wife of 58 years, Susanne (Lanovara) D'Angelo, children, Michael, Daniel Renee; loving daughter-in-law whom he cherished, Susan Kloch D'Angelo; grandchildren, Jenna, Megan, Patrick, Lydia, Olivia, David, Andre, Lia Adam; his sister, Pauline (Domenico) Iovoli; sisters-in-law brothers-in-law,Frieda (Bert) LaRocca, Jean LaMarca Linda (Frank) Ragusa; many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. He is further survived by a special friend who always made him smile and laugh, Alberto Riccardi. Mike's presence will be missed, but his influence will endure. Mike was born on August 9, 1943 to Vittorio and Antoinetta D'Angelo in Tocco de Casauria, province of Pescara in the Abruzzo Region of Italy. He had two sisters, Angelina and Paolina. Unfortunately for his family, Angelina passed away as an infant. Mike immigrated to the United States in 1955. In spite of the language barrier, he immediately made friends in school and settling in to his new surroundings was easy. At the young age of 16, Mike began working at Hickey Freeman and after six weeks he realized that this was something that he could not enjoy doing for a career. His father encouraged him to learn a trade and with Mike did just that. He started working as a plumber's helper in Rochester and he quickly learned the trade and flourished. At the age of 21, he started his own plumbing business. The current business was formed in 1966, D'Angelo Plumbing and Heating. Running his business transformed him from plumber to businessman to entrepreneur. His hard work and dedication allowed the business to flourish. The most important success for Mike was earning the respect and love of his employees. They were not just employees, but family to him. In 1962 Mike married the love of his life, Susanne Lanovara. They had their first child in December 1963, while living in an apartment over his parent's home. With the growing family, Mike Sue purchased their first house, which was in the town of Greece. Mike retired in 2000 and decided to avoid snowfall by spending winters in Deerfield Beach, FL. He had a life-long love for soccer, skiing, golf, scotch and travel. Sue and Mike were fortunate to travel to many places in the world and their adventures are fond memories. The light of his life were his family, especially the grandchildren. He will be missed by all who knew him. Mike's funeral will be celebrated 4:00 pm on Wednesday, January 22 at the Arbor at the Port of Rochester, 1000 North River St, Rochester NY 14612. His entombment in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Alzheimers Association, 435 E Henrietta Rd, Rochester, NY 14620 in Mike's memory.
