Rochester: December 16, 2013 at the age of 87. Predeceased by her husband, Robert; brother-in-law, Kenneth Burt. Celine is survived by her husband, Fred; children, Charlene Halbrook, Steve (Sharon) Halbrook, Sharon (Andy) Coia, Stephen (Karen) Handel, Edward (Karen) Handel, Elizabeth (Scott) Goodloe; brother-in-law, Richard (Marcia) Handel; sisters, Patricia (Gerald) Batog, Mary Ann Burt; 14 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; several nieces nephews.
No prior visitation. Celine's funeral mass will be celebrated 11:00 AM on Saturday at Holy Cross Church, 4492 Lake Ave, Rochester, NY 14612. Entombment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, Attn: Memorial Donations, PO Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312 in Celine's memory.
Celine was born in Rochester, NY on July 1, 1926 and grew up on Joseph Avenue. She graduated from Nazareth High School. She later met her husband, Fred, at work (Bachman's) and on February 14, 1975 they were married by a justice of the peace at the Royal Scott Restaurant in Irondequoit.
Some of Celine's favorite things included dessert, Christmas cookies, hot fudge sundaes, Black Velvet, muddled Old Fashioned, cats, traveling, ceramics, crafts, and collecting lighthouses.
Celine enjoyed reading, watching Lawrence Welk, following the Pittsburgh Steelers, and she was an Amerks season ticket holder.
Family and friends would best describe Celine as someone who was feisty, fun-loving, and an all around loving person. She will be greatly missed.
