Mastrella, Joan Rochester: March 13, 2016. She is survived by her husband, Lawrence J. Mastrella; two sons, Larry (Sheila) S. and Brian (Tara McCullough) Mastrella; grandchildren, Joseph (Amy) Johnson; nieces & nephews. To light a candle of remembrance, visit: aliferemembered.com. Joan grew up in East Rochester and Pittsford. She attended St. Jerome's Grade School and graduated from St. Agnes High School in 1964. She later met her husband Lawrence at the Arnett YMCA, they married in St. Louis on May 20, 1967. She worked at Gates Town Hall as Court Clear for ten years and another ten years at Westside Pediatrics as Secretary and Receptionist. She was well-loved and respected at both places of employment. Some of Joan's favorite times in life were the holidays, family birthdays, and the Mastrella family picnic. She loved spending time with her friends from St. Agnes, her trips to Cape Cod, playing games of chances, cooking, and her dogs Daisy & Rocco. Her favorite TV shows were Dancing with the Stars, Downton Abbey & her Soaps. She enjoyed movies Moonstruck & Blazing Saddles and her music choices were just as diverse: 60' Sinatra, Willie Nelson, Angels Flying Too Close to the Ground, Bocelli & Pavarotti. She also loved the New York Yankees and the Buffalo Bills. Joan was a friend to all who knew her. She was vibrant, social, caring and always considerate to everyone. She was a loving mother and devoted wife, kind and compassionate. She always had a positive outlook no matter what the situation. Joan's visitation will be held 1-3 PM & 6-9 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home, 1411 Vintage Lane (between Rte 390 & Long Pond Rd). Her funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at St. Helen's Church, 310 Hinchey Rd., Rochester. Interment in White Haven Memorial Park.
