Toni's parents, Anthony Rose Smeraglia made their home and raised their family in the Avery St. Neighborhood. Toni attended and graduated from Madison High School in 1945.
Toni met who would become the love of her life Orey Palumbieri through mutual friends while enjoying a party at a cottage on the Fingerlakes. Their courtship was brief and at the age of 19 the two were married in St. Francis of Assisi Church. Their marriage spanned 45 years until Orey's untimely death in 1992.
Toni will be remembered by family and friends for being strong willed, independent, out going, feisty and very patriotic. She loved celebrating the 4th of July. The fourth wouldn't be complete without a well done Zweigle's White Hot
In her free time Toni enjoyed reading Novels of all types. She enjoyed music to include Big Band, Frank Sinatra and Country Music. The only thing she liked more than these types of music was when they were playing and she could dance with Orey. Tuesday's was a special day that Toni would spend with Nancy, they would take care of running errands/appointments and would have lunch together. Saturday's Ralph would take Toni to get her hair cut and attend Mass.
Toni Orey loved to travel. When they were in NYC they could be watching her beloved NY Yankees, take in a play or attending the Macy's Parade.
Throughout her entire life Toni's devotion and faith were very important to her. She prayed daily. For those she loved that were experiencing any life challenges you were automatically on her prayer list.
Most of all, Toni loved her family. She was a Loving Mother and Grandmother. She always looked forward to X-Mas, Grandchildren's birthdays and when the grandkids would come to her house for a sleep over.
Toni has longed for Orey since his passing in 1992. Now they are reunited and dancing in heaven.
Toni's visitation will be Tuesday 4-7. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday 9:30 AM at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 3003 Dewey Ave., followed by her burial in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to American Cancer Society, Memorial Processing Society, 6725 Lyons St., PO Box 7, E. Syracuse, NY 13057 in Toni's memory.
