Greece: January 17, 2020. Romeo is predeceased by his wife, Marion L. (Faticone) Liberatore. He is survived by his children, Robert "Libby" (Lisa) Liberatore, Richard (Carol Howlett) Liberatore Patti (Sam) Greco; grandchildren, Deanna (Evan Paris) Liberatore, Nicole (Jared) Sharp, Matthew Greco Samantha Greco; sister Del (Martin) Budinski; several nieces, nephews, cousins dear friends. Romeo founded Romeo's restaurant in 1956.
Romeo's life story will be shared during his visitation, Tuesday, January 21st, 2-4 7-9 PM at the funeral home, 1411 Vintage Lane (between 390 Long Pond Rd.). His Funeral Mass will be celebrated, Wednesday, January 22nd, 10 AM at St. Lawrence Church, 1000 N. Greece Rd., immediately followed by his burial in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Alzheimer's Association, 435 E. Henrietta Rd., Rochester, NY 14620 or to Charles Settlement House, 71 Parkway, Rochester, NY 14608 in Romeo's memory.
Romeo was born on December 11th 1935 to Salvatore and Maria Liberatore in Rochester, NY. He grew up in Brown Square Jones Park neighborhood on Saratoga Avenue. Romeo attended Jefferson High School and graduated in 1954. During his teen years, he wrestled and played soccer at Jefferson High. He was a member of OAKS at Brown Square Park. Romeo served in the U.S. Army from 1954-1956. After his service, he married the love of his life, Marion at St. Patrick's Cathedral on September 2, 1961. They went on to have 3 children, Robert, Richard and Patti. Later on they were blessed with 4 grandchildren, Deanna, Nicole, Matthew and Samantha.
Romeo opened Romeo's Restaurant in 1956 on Lyell Avenue. In 1993, he moved his restaurant to Irondequoit and then moved to the town of Greece in 2005. Romeo was a NY Yankee's fan and enjoyed horse racing. He was a Harness Horse Trainer. Romeo was a Section V Football Official and was a baseball coach through Northwest Youth Association for over 15 years. During his free time, Romeo liked to cook and listen to Frank Sinatra, but most of all, he cherished and adored his wife Marion. Romeo was described as quiet, social, honest, fun loving and religious. He was known to be hardworking, outspoken, strong willed and very devoted to his family. Romeo will be deeply missed and always fondly remembered by his loving family and friends.
