Costa, Joseph F. Gates: January 17, 2016. Joe was predeceased by his loving wife, Helen (Borrelli) Costa. He is survived by his cousins: Margaret Cress, Kristen (Keith) Auinger, Collin (Zoila) Cress, Quinn, Maggy Ethan. Several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Joe's visitation will be Friday 4-7 PM, at the Funeral Home, 1411 Vintage Lane (Between 390 Long Pond Rd.). His Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, 10 AM at St. Ann's Chapel, 1500 Portland Ave., followed by his burial in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Alzheimer's Association, 435 E. Henrietta Rd., Rochester, NY 14620 in his memory. Joe was born on February 14, 1926. When he was 18 years old, Joe served in the U.S. Navy from 1944-1946. When he returned home, Joe worked for the U.S Postal Service where he retired after 45 years of service. Joe enjoyed traveling with his wife Helen, especially taking trips to Arizona. Some of his hobbies include, physical fitness and swimming. Joe also liked to bowl and paid attention to politics. He enjoyed sports, such as football and basketball and some of his favorite music was Frank Sinatra and Big Band. Joe was described as witty, sarcastic, out spoken, giving frugal. Joe had a good sense of humor, was hard-working, dedicated and held traditional values. He had a hard exterior but was very soft on the inside. Joe will always be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by his family and friends.
