Parsons, Sallie W. (Williams) Greece: Died peacefully on September 12, 2016 at the age of 82. Sallie was born in Watertown on August 3, 1934 and was the oldest of 4 girls. Sallie is predeceased by her mother Marjorie WIlliams & sister Kay Alteri. She is survived by her children Laura Hamwey, Chris (Debbie) Parsons, Scott (Colleen) Parsons; grandchildren, Elizabeth Morgan, Isabelle Hamwey, Chloe & Matthew Parsons; sisters Gail Varley & Nancie Williams; brother-in-law Donald Alteri; cousins Anne Davis & Myra Jean Koster; several nieces and nephews. For more information about Sallie please visit www.aliferemembered.com Sallie aspired to be a teacher and did just that, beginning her teaching career in Watertown and later in Liverpool, NY. She began teaching 1st and 2nd class levels, also teaching reading enrichment to 4th and 5th graders. She moved to Rochester and once her youngest turned 6, she went back to teaching. She taught in the Greece school district until 1997. Sallie loved their cottage. Lovely summers were spent on the shores of Lake Ontario where she could relax in the sun, plan feasts for her family and friends that were her guests during her time at "the cottage." One of the happiest times of her life was at the wedding of Colleen and Scott. Her dress was beautiful, her earrings sparkled and her shoes matched perfectly. She was the 2nd belle of the ball after her gorgeous daughter-in-law Colleen. When she danced with Scott, she was in her glory dancing to "Watching Scottie Grow." Sallie sang in church choir and later in the Treble Clefs Women's Choir. She was part of the Lakeshore Garden Club, once serving as president. She loved her garden and her home. She once considered being an interior decorator, but chose instead to teach young children. Her talents for artistic creativity were well suited to her chosen career. Sallie was the "cool mom" who took her kids to rock concerts at the War Memorial, but to her it wasn't really a chore because she wanted to go too! ...and she could never quite figure out what the funny smell was in the air! Billy Joel was a family favorite, but so was Ella Fitzgerald and Frank Sinatra. Our record cabinet was quite varied. She didn't mind the music her kids liked, and they still insist they learned how to sing harmony from Simon and Garfunkle. Sallie was a great teacher, friend and mom. She was always thinking of others and how she could use her talents and energy to help. She will be dearly missed. Sallie's visitation will be Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9 at the funeral home, 1411 Vintage Lane (Between 390 & Long Pond Rd.). Her funeral mass will be celebrated Thursday, 9:30 AM at Our Mother of Sorrows Church, 5000 Mt. Read. Blvd. Her Interment is scheduled for Friday 12PM at Glenwood Cemetery in Watertown, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester, 1048 University Ave., Rochester, NY 14607 in her memory.
