John started his life in Chicago, Illinois, born in his own home and was the youngest of nine siblings. In High School he played football and sang in the church choir. He went to college for his undergraduate work in Normal, Illinois and then on to Buffalo State for his graduate degree. From January 1955 to August 1958 John served in the United States Airforce as an aircraft electrical repair man in Okinawa and Illinois.
His sisters and brothers all married making him an uncle of 44 nieces and nephews. John himself was married to Frances Frazer on August 22, 1964. They met while both teaching in Roseville, Michigan in a suburb of Detroit. They married in St. John the Evangelist Church, on Ridge Rd., right here in Rochester. Eventually 3 beautiful kids came to fill their lives, Amy, Patrick and Jason.
John and his family camped for many years in the Adirondack mountains. They also took a 5-week vacation once to camp and tour the western United States which the whole family enjoyed. He was also very handy and spent a lot of time remodeling their family homes. In fact, one of his favorite TV shows was "This Old House."
John didn't always say much, but people like him because he was a good listener. He had a good sense of the ridiculous and loved to tell jokes. He will be missed by those who loved and knew him.
