September 8, 2017. Millie is predeceased by her husband, George "Joe" Carter, siblings, Louise Brush, Dorothy Robinson, Eleanor Tears, Elmer Tears Ralph Tears. She is survived by her children, Linda Carter Mike (Debra) Carter; sister Doris Morgan; sister-in-law Gladys Carter; several nieces, nephews and dear friends. Mildred T. "Millie" Carter was born September 23, 1927 in Potter NY. She was a daughter to Charles Mahala Burger Tears. Charles Mahala's family grew to include 5 daughters and 2 sons. Theirs was a family of farming heritage and they had moved around between Yates Ontario county. Millie graduated from Clifton Springs High School 1945. She later joined her sister Eleanor and began working in Rochester at Hickock Belt Company. It was in Rochester that Millie met her lifelong love Joe Carter while attending a Square-Dancing Event. Millie Joe's family grew to include two children of their own Linda Mike. They always looked forward to family vacations. Some of the most memorable trips found them traveling across country in the car to Phoenix, AZ. Every trip in the car found Millie saying, "I won't ever do this again" because of Linda Mike's antics in the back seat. She enjoyed bowling, through the years she was in bowling leagues at Domm Brothers, Maiden Lanes and Dewey Gardens. She also enjoyed playing Bingo once a week. When she wasn't in a bingo hall or bowling lanes Millie could be found sitting at a slot machine at various casino's. Millie's mood on the way home from the casino was predicated on whether she won! Millie was an avid reader. She went so far as to create a log of books she had already read so that there was no chance of her reading it a second time. Her favorite music was Country. She reveled in her trips to Nashville the Grand Ole Opry. Her favorite artists included the likes of George Strait Alan Jackson. One of the stories that family fondly remember, revolve around Millie's outright fear/hatred of mice. One couldn't own a cat because they might bring a mouse home. She had a certain scream that would indicate to anyone close to her that a mouse was in the vicinity! Millie will be remembered as: a loving mother, easy going, content, friendly, supportive, quiet, strong willed and resistant to change. Her love of family was evident in the joy she received from family gatherings. She always looked forward to visits from her sister Doris. Millie was loved by all who knew and loved her. She has impacted the lives of family and friends and will be sadly missed.
