Marilyn was born on September 28, 1930 to Richard Pauline and was raised with her siblings in Rochester, NY. She graduated from high school and worked at a bank until she had her children, Robin Dawn, and then she stayed home to be a housewife and homemaker.
She met her future husband, Norman, when she was 13 and he was 15. They dated throughout his service in the US Navy and were married in Rochester when she was 18. They would have celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary on June 18. Marilyn used to whistle to Norm to get his attention, even in stores so they could find each other. That whistle got his attention enough for them to be together almost 64 years! She lived in Greece almost all of her life until moving to Hilton a few years ago to live in a ranch home.
Marilyn didn't like to cook so she often ate out, especially when Norm was working trick work at Kodak. They used to travel to Florida and loved to just take car rides to see different scenery.
She would often be found helping out in school. All her children's friends wanted to hang out at the house with "the coolest mom ever". Marilyn was a riot, very strict, but fun and cool. She even liked to ride the 4-wheeler with the kids!
Marilyn loved to paint! She took lessons and was a wood medium painter. She went to painting conventions with Bev, Char and Joanne all over the states. She had tons of laughs with her friends every Saturday night.
In her spare time, Marilyn loved to read all types of books. She knew how to use a computer and cell phone (most of the time). Her favorite movie was Fiddler on the Roof, and she loved television. The Bee Gees were her favorite musicians, but she also would listen to Macklemore's Thrift Store and sing "$20 in my pocket".
She had 3 tattoos: flowers around her left ankle, a butterfly on the right ankle, and flowers on her right shoulder! She started getting them when she was in her 50's and still wanted more. She even took Joey, her grandson, to get a few! She wanted to take John, too, but wanted some meat on his bones before he got one. Marilyn had a 4' lifeguard chair to watch the kids and their friends swim in the pool. She couldn't swim a stroke, but told them how to swim!
Marilyn was known as a wife, mom, Yiayia, "meanie", aunt and friend. Everyone loved Marilyn and she told it like it was. For her, there was no holding back and she will be greatly missed.
