Remembering Elaine L. Luciano
Elaine L. (Schultz) Luciano, born on April 12, 1937, in Rochester, NY, was a woman of remarkable spirit, unwavering love, and unforgettable charm. To know Elaine was to experience both her challenging nature and the immense depth of her heart. Whether she was indulging in one of her favorite activities, like computer games, puzzles, or a round of mini golf, or simply enjoying the changing colors of autumn, Elaine was always fully present. She loved her garden— even if the flowers were fake—bird watching, playing bingo, dancing at Oktoberfest, and savoring a good bone-in ribeye. A woman of taste, she had a soft spot for eggs benedict, Coca-Cola, and chewing gum, while the scent of Pine-Sol and Taboo the perfume were ever-present delights. And though she could find joy in a wide variety of things, one thing was certain: she absolutely hated snakes.
Elaine’s early life in Rochester was marked by the steadfast love and companionship of her parents, Robert and Esther Schultz, who were not only her parents but also her best friends. She grew up alongside her two brothers, Bobby and Wayne, and shared a special bond with her beloved dog, Sandy. A graduate of Franklin High School, Elaine worked at Rochester Telephone and was an active member of St. Lawrence Church. She also volunteered at the election polls, demonstrating her dedication to both community and country.
Elaine’s greatest joy in life was her family. On June 18, 1955, she married Al, her beloved husband of 50 years, at St. Andrew’s Church. Together, they raised three sons—Rick, Bill, and Ken—and spent cherished vacations in the 1000 Islands, Old Forge, and Hawaii. Day trips to Niagara Falls and visits to Fantasy Island and the North Pole with her granddaughters added to the many adventures that filled her life with love and memories.
Elaine had a strong and enduring friendship with Dorothy and Roger, with whom she shared more than 50 years of camaraderie. Pat and Ron were her friends for over 60 years, and Joan and Franz were close companions for over 30 years. She also had lasting friendships with Gloria, Arlene, and Kathy, and a special bond with her goddaughter, Sue Logel, and Aunt Audrey. These relationships and friendships were a testament to her loyalty and the deep connections she forged with those around her.
Her favorite music was a mix of Elvis Presley, Patsy Cline, ‘50s Rock & Roll, and country tunes—songs that perfectly matched her spirit. Elaine also loved watching TV shows like Everybody Loves Raymond, The Golden Girls, and Hallmark movies, always with a smile on her face.
A woman with a sassy attitude and an undeniably resilient nature, Elaine could be stubborn at times, but her love for her family was beyond measure. Her favorite sayings, “Whatever – you’ll miss me when I’m gone” and “I love you, you know that?” spoke to her unshakable confidence and the warmth of her heart. She was a fiercely dedicated mother and grandmother, her greatest pride being the families her sons started and the joy her grandchildren brought into her life.
Elaine faced her greatest challenge when she lost Al, the love of her life, too soon. Yet, through all of life’s challenges, she remained strong-willed, living independently until her passing. Her legacy lives on in her family—the sons she raised, the grandchildren she adored, and the many lives she touched.
Elaine’s presence in this world will be dearly missed, but we find comfort knowing that she is at peace, reunited with those who came before her. Her love, her strength, and her devotion will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew her.
Elaine’s legacy lives on in the memories she created, the love she shared, and the lives she touched.
