Resided in: Rochester, NY

Frank J. Sanza, 89, of Greece, died suddenly at home on March 9, 2025. Born on May 29, 1935 in Rochester, he was the son of the late Frank and Angelina (DiMarzio) Sanza.

Following coursework at RIT he began a career in engineering with Eastman Kodak Company where he worked for 14 years before taking a job with Xerox Corporation. He retired from Xerox in 1993 after 25 years of dedicated service. He visited China during his work with Xerox and following retirement spent three months working as a consultant in Hong Kong.

Frank is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 61 years, Dorothy, daughter Jean Roberts (Allen), son Mark (Christine Kenefick), sister Karen Stevenson, and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his treasured grandchildren, Jonathon Roberts, Gabrielle Sanza and Nicholas Sanza. Frank was predeceased by his parents, brother Richard (Millie) and brother-in-law William Stevenson.

Frank lived a long and interesting life. He has been an avid hunter since age 12, hunting bear, elk, deer, caribou, wild boar and turkey. In his early years, he was in a music quartet called the Four High Fives and taught guitar lessons. For the past 30 years he has been an active member of the Monroe County Fish Advisory Board, serving as chair for 10 years. He was a charter boat captain on Lake Ontario for nearly 20 years and served as president of the Lake Ontario Charter Boat Association. In 1981 Frank won the Pennsylvania State Shoot championship in trap shooting and in 2017 he was inducted in the New York State Outdoorsmen’s Hall of Fame.

Frank was funny and sarcastic. Mostly, however, Frank was a family man. He and Dorothy traveled the United States and Europe together and never missed milestone events of their family. Frank had a particularly close and special bond with each of his grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held at Bartolomeo & Perotto Funeral Home located at 1411 Vintage Lane in Rochester on Saturday, March 15, 2025 from 11:00AM to 1:00PM, immediately followed by a funeral service at the funeral home. A private burial will take place at a later date.
