Remembering Al
William Albert Shannon, known as Al, was born on September 9, 1938 in Penn Yann. He lived with his grandmother, Lucy, his dad and mom, as well as his sister, Elaine, on a farm in Barrington near Dundee NY.

He graduated from Dundee High School, having enjoyed English class, in particular. Al was a gifted writer.

After his High School Graduation, Al immediately joined the Army spending four years in the reserves. He moved to Rochester to work at GLF AgTech, which fit his farming background.

In 1958, he met Shirley, a student at The Eastman Dispensary. The following June, they were married. A year and a half later, Al accepted a position at Eastman Kodak Co. He spent many years working as a supervising manager in the Film division.

Becoming a Roman Catholic grounded his life, soul and purpose. He strictly attended mass every week, prayed his Rosary daily, making sure to include anyone in need.
He was a person with a ready smile, humorous personality, and a calm voice. Al able to repair almost anything.

He loved chocolate in any form. He loved card games, especially during his lunch hour at Eastman Kodak. He also enjoyed puzzles of any kind – table or newspaper. Above all else, he loved the faces of his family – the little ones, and the beauty strength, and kindness of the ones grown – they were #1 always.

He was recognized by Robert Kennedy for saving the life of a little girl in his late 20’s. He rescued her from a baby carriage that had cut off her breathing. The doctors at the hospital told him later that day, “He saved her life.”

So, Al, our love, WE MISS YOU terribly! But we cannot wish you back from the Beauty & Grace of Heaven with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit and your friends and family. We would be selfish and you are just a prayer conversation with us at any time; and with God’s grace, we will be with you again FOREVER.

Love you – love you lots. Pray for us.
Shirley
