Adam is survived by his wife, Heide Brien Curtin; son, Tyler Curtin; stepdaughter, Rylee Brien; parents, Marian & Thomas Curtin; sister, Jessica (Dan) Plimpton; father-in-law, Randy Brien; brother-in-law, Adam (Michelle) Brien; nieces, Riley Plimpton, Sadie Plimpton, Cassandra James, Alexis James, & Amber James; several aunts, uncles, cousins, & dear friends.

Adam’s life story will be shared during his visitation, Friday, July 24th, from 4-8 PM at the funeral home, 1411 Vintage Lane. His Celebration of Life Service will be Saturday, July 25th at 10 AM at the funeral home. Immediately following, Adam will be laid to rest in Irondequoit Cemetery. Remembering Adam ~

Adam Gerald Curtin was born on November 25, 1982, at Rochester General Hospital on Thanksgiving Day, a fitting beginning for someone who would spend his life giving so much to the people he loved. While Marian was in labor, his father, Tom, stayed true to Thanksgiving tradition and cooked the family turkey. The celebration was simply postponed, and two days later, they gathered to enjoy Thanksgiving dinner together with their newborn son.

Adam was the beloved son of Tom and Marian Curtin, whose love, guidance, and example shaped the man he became. They instilled in him the values of hard work, responsibility, and integrity while also teaching him many of life’s practical lessons from managing money and learning the game of golf to buying his first home and making time for family vacations. Their unwavering support laid the foundation for both his personal and professional success.

Growing up, Adam shared a close bond with his older sister, Jessica. Like many siblings, they had their share of playful rivalries—playing Barbie and G.I. Joe together, sharing the backseat on family trips, and arguing over the television remote and stereo. Jessica was the all-knowing big sister, and despite their teasing, the two shared a lifetime of memories that remained close to Adam’s heart.

Animals were always a special part of Adam’s life. Throughout the years he loved many faithful companions, including Nico, Ollie, Milo, and Bella, while never forgetting Jax, Scruffy, Toby, and Chester, who held a special place in his heart.

Adam attended Durand Eastman Elementary School, Nazareth Junior High School, and graduated from Aquinas Institute. He continued his education at Alfred University, earning a degree in Business while attending on a four-year scholarship. During his time there, he served as both a tutor and mentor, reflecting the patience, intelligence, and willingness to help others that would define him throughout his life.

As a young man, Adam enjoyed playing baseball and bowling, but as the years went on, golf became one of his greatest passions—and perhaps his greatest source of friendly frustration. He loved the challenge of the game, even if it refused to love him back.

Adam began working at Monroe Extinguisher Company in 1996, learning the business from the ground up under the guidance of his father, Tom Curtin, the longtime owner and president of Monroe Extinguisher Company and Monroe Kitchen Equipment. Through years of dedication and hard work, Adam eventually succeeded his father, becoming President and Co-Owner. He viewed Monroe as more than a business it was family. He cared deeply about the company, its employees, and its customers, always making sure everyone around him was taken care of. His commitment, integrity, and leadership earned the respect of all who knew him.

In 2010, Adam met Heide Brien at Monroe Extinguisher Company. Their friendship grew into a lasting love, and on December 14, 2023, they were married. Together they built a life centered on family, laughter, and making memories. They enjoyed traveling together to the Dominican Republic, Henderson Harbor, Cape Cod, Delmonte, Delhi, and Texas. Among all of their adventures, summers at Delmonte always held a special place in Adam’s heart.

Nothing meant more to Adam than his family. He was a devoted husband, a loving father to Tyler Joseph and Rylee Elizabeth, a cherished son, brother, and friend. Adam found immense joy in being an involved and devoted father. He rarely missed Rylee’s karate tournaments or softball games and always looked forward to hearing about her day. At the dinner table, he would smile and ask, “So, what did we learn today?” a simple question that sparked conversations she would always remember. For her 14th birthday, he surprised her and her friends with a limousine, creating a celebration they would never forget.

He shared that same special bond with Tyler, asking him the very same question at dinner each evening. The two enjoyed countless hours together, whether they were hitting golf balls, shooting hoops, or spending time playing games. More than anything, Adam cherished being present in their lives, creating memories through life’s everyday moments.

Whether spending time with his children, relaxing with his dogs, or simply enjoying the company of those he loved, Adam found his greatest happiness in being together.

Friendship was another cornerstone of Adam’s life. His childhood friends: Rich, Andy C., Sven, and Brandon remained lifelong companions, later joined by Andy P., Billy, and Anthony. Whether they were playing old-school video games, fishing, golfing, playing euchre, competing in fantasy sports leagues, or simply spending time together, those friendships were built on loyalty, laughter, and years of shared memories.

Adam had a personality that people naturally gravitated toward. He was known for his dry sense of humor, intelligence, loyalty, kindness, patience, compassion, and easygoing nature. He accepted people as they were and never hesitated to help someone in need. Of course, those who knew him best also knew his stubborn side especially when it came to embracing change or being told what to do.

He enjoyed the simple pleasures in life: old-school video games, golf, fishing, fantasy sports, euchre, cheering on his favorite teams, classic rock, especially Chicago, and relaxing with favorite television shows like The Office, Seinfeld, professional wrestling, and Family Guy. He also had a few well-known dislikes, including long walks, dark chocolate, and, with a smile, Heide’s taste in music.

Among the many people who influenced Adam’s life, none had a greater impact than his parents and his Grandpa Curtin. Their example inspired the values that guided him every day with hard work, humility, generosity, and putting family first.

Above all else, Adam will be remembered as a successful businessman, devoted husband, loving father, caring son, loyal friend, and a man whose greatest priority was making sure those he loved were cared for. His quiet strength, unwavering loyalty, generous heart, and unmistakable sense of humor leave behind a legacy that will continue to live on in everyone fortunate enough to know him.

He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
