PITTSFORD - Ann passed away September 24, 2019 at home. She was born in Rochester on May 15, 1924. She was a loving wife, devoted mother and grandmother. She worked at General Motors for nearly 15 years. She is predeceased by her husband, A. Peter Bovenzi. She is survived by her two sons James (Jerilyn) Bovenzi Peter Bovenzi; grandchildren, Alyssa Bovenzi Lauren (Brian) Brown; brother Thomas DelVecchio; several nieces, nephews dear friends. Ann's life story will be shared during her visiting hours, Tuesday, October 1st, from 2-4 6-8 PM. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, October 2nd, 10:00 AM at Church of the Transfiguration, 50 W. Bloomfield, Pittsford, NY, followed by her entombment in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Online donations can be made at poshgift.org Ann was born in Rochester, NY on May 15, 1924. She was the fifth of six children to Joseph and Rosina DelVecchio. The sewing, crafts, music and dancing that she enjoyed as a child during summer camp became her lifelong interests. Ann's mother, Rosina, died of cancer when she was just 14 years old. She loved to dance the jitterbug with her Jefferson high school "sorority" sisters (class of '42). She met the love of her life, A. Peter Bovenzi ("Pete"), when his parents decided to rent the second floor of Ann's parents' house. Pete asked Ann out to a movie and the rest is history. Pete was drafted into the Navy during World War II and was stationed in the Pacific. Ann wrote many letters to her dear boyfriend during the war years. They agreed to destroy the love letters after the war to protect their most intimate exchanges. Ann married her high school sweetheart on April 24, 1948. One of her first jobs was at Sibleys department store in 1942 as part of the Junior Squad. Ann began her almost fifteen-year career at General Motors in 1942 working first in the X-ray lab inspecting castings as part of the World War II effort and later becoming the Executive Assistant to the Chief Inspector. Ann left the work force in 1957 to have her first child, James. Ann's second child, Peter, was born in 1962. The family moved to Kettering, Ohio in 1967 due to her husband's new job assignment at Delco Products/General Motors. Ann was the fifth of six children (listed oldest to youngest) Louie, George, Isabel, Connie, and Tom. Ann was married to her husband, A. Peter Bovenzi, for 61 years. She had two children, James and Peter, a daughter-in-law, Jerilyn (James), and two beloved grandchildren, Alyssa and Lauren. Ann was inspired to express her pride and joy of significant family events in verse and prose. Ann kept these poems in a small journal that the family has to cherish. Ann was fortunate to possess what she called "real" love for her family that made her lifelong commitment to caring for others possible. Ann always had a sense of fashion and dressed with flair and style. When asked routinely by admirers how she stayed so young and vibrant, Ann simply replied "hard work." Ann can best be described as devoted, caring, loving, compassionate and selfless and will be missed by everyone that knew her.
