Davide, Anthony J. "Tony" "Papa"
Greece: April 5, 2016. Tony is survived by his wife Cynthia "Cindy" A. Davide; daughters, Tamara "Tammy" Ricotta Danielle (Michael) Fliss; grandchildren, Jenna, Hannah, Marissa Amanda Ricotta, Luke, Skyler, Harper Demi Fliss; sister Barbara (Frank) Valente; several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Born and raised in Rochester, Tony grew up with his sister Barbara near Avery Otis Street. He went to Jefferson High School, was a medic in the Army and worked as a Millright at General Motors until he retired at 50 years old. He enjoyed working as a bus driver for the Greece Central School District after.
He met his wife Cynthia at a Dance and they were later married at Holy Apostles Church. They had two beautiful daughters, Tamara (Tammy) Danielle and were blessed with several grandchildren in following years. One of the greatest events in his life were the birth of his grandchildren, they meant the world to him. He was a fixture on the sidelines of his grandkids sporting events which loved to watch. Holidays were always a high point with family all around.
One of Tony's great loves was building and restoring hot rods, motorcycles (Harley Davidson) and antique cars. He collected antique items like vintage gas pumps, Texaco memorabilia, Hess trucks, baseball cards, barber chairs, FORD gumball machines, license plates, pedal cars and all things nostalgic. His favorite place to be was at his camp where he kept all of his memorabilia. He built a custom gas station and created a museum-like atmosphere for friends and family to enjoy. They often gathered to hang out in front of his wood burning stove. He also loved riding his tractor and maintaining the property.
Tony enjoyed going on vacations with his wife and children, camping in his Pace Arrow motor home, annual trips to Southwick and Myrtle Beach, SC. One of their most memorable trips was to Disney World. The family also spent many good times at the cottage on Keuka Lake where he enjoyed boating, fishing and most of all, relaxing on the front porch. You could sometimes see him riding his vintage gas motorized Schwinn bike on lakeside. He was an avid fan of Estate Sales, loved raising chickens and enjoyed eating anything and everything.
As an avid Buffalo Bills fan Tony supported his favorite team wholeheartedly at games he attended with grandson and son-in-law. His hobbies drew him to become a member of the Rochester Street Rods and he'd often spend time at Cruise Nights with friends. Favorite TV shows included American Pickers, Gold Rush, Gas Monkey, Seinfeld Swamp People.
One of his most memorable sayings was "Live within your means!" He had his own way of taking words and changing them to make them his own. Tony loved to tell stories and be the life of the party. He was honest, hardworking, funny, kind and loved by all.
Tony's visitation will be Sunday 1-5 PM. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday 9:30 AM at St. Lawrence Church, 1000 N. Greece Rd., followed by his Entombment in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 in his memory.
