Anthony M. "Tony" Ferrarese ROCHESTER - On June 11, 2020 at age 97, has gone home to be with the Lord. Survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Alyce; daughter Allison (Brian) Macaluso; grandson Jeffrey Macaluso; sister Florence Hoops; brother Salvatore (Edith) Ferrarese; many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Predeceased by his parents Assunta and John Ferrarese and sister Mary Rivers. Anthony was a veteran of WWII, served with the 3505 M.A.M Ordinance Company, US Army. Anthony organized a reunion annually of his army buddies for over 60 years. He entered service on January 9, 1943 and was discharged December 27, 1945. His company went ashore on Omaha Beach, Normandy, shortly after "D-Day". Battles and campaigns included Normandy, Northern France Rhineland, and Southern France. He received three battle stars and several other awards. Anthony was a Veteran counselor for over 35 years including Monroe County Veterans Service Agency, the New York State Division of Veteran Affairs and VVA Chapter 20. Anthony was very active with the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a proud member of Thomas F. Healy Post 16 and went into becoming the youngest Commander of Monroe County Council VFW. He later became New York State Commander for the VFW serving 1989 - 1990. He served 2 years on the National Board of Directors. Since 1998, he was on the Board of Directors of the State Veterans Home in Batavia NY. Anthony had a weekly radio program, "The Veterans Reporter" for over 20 years on WSAY (now WXXI). He also would broadcast Rochester's Annual Memorial Day Parade. Anthony was a life-long, dedicated parishioner of Holy Apostles Church. He served on numerous committees through the years. He was a wonderful family man, an avid gardener, enjoyed cooking, reading History books, and traveling around the state and country. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him. Anthony's family is requiring all guests upon entering the funeral home to wear a face mask, use hand sanitizer and use social distance.
