Services As per Dr. Alaimo's wishes interment will be private BUT he wanted friends, colleagues, family and his patients to join in a Celebration of His Life on Monday, March 12th at the Diplomat Party House, 1956 Lyell Ave. from 5 to 8 PM. Additional Information Dr. Alaimo's stories of wisdom will live on forever and will continue to be passed down through the generations. He told each one of us that there was no such word as "Can't" and never to look at a pile of bricks but to take one brick at a time. Having his family together was the most important thing to him. He was the light of so many lives, we are eternally grateful for having been loved by him and for having the opportunity to love him for so many years. Dr. Alaimo graduated from Jefferson High School. He worked as an auto mechanic and for The Ford Motor Company and General Motors while attending undergraduate school at the University of Rochester. He went on to attend Creighton School of Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska after only 3 years at the U of R. After medical school he joined the Navy and eventually returned to Rochester where he practiced medicine from 1956 until he formally retired in 2004. Dr. Alaimo would spend his winters in Florida playing golf which he did right up to this November. He was a current member of the PGA National in Florida and a former member of Locust Hill in Rochester. When he would return from Florida for the summer months he would go into his son's office to socialize with his former patients; he may have formally retired, but he was a physician until the very end. Dr. Alaimo was diagnosed in December with a brain tumor and he and the family would like to thank Paul Mauree, M.D. and Meri Atanas, M.D. for their expertise and caring during this difficult journey. We would also like to thank the staff at the Hildebrandt Hospice for their loving care. A special thanks to our own Stacey O'Brien, RN for showing her love by stepping up to advocate for Papa.
