Remembering Arthur ~

Arthur James Yockel was born in November of 1956 to Betty Jane and Charles Yockel, arriving three months premature and already showing the strength that would define his life. He was the third child and middle son in a lively family of six children, growing up surrounded by siblings, shared responsibilities, and close bonds that shaped his steady, caring nature.

Arthur attended Edison Technical High School, where he distinguished himself as an avid swimmer and focused his studies on printing. Like many boys of his time, Arthur and his brothers worked as paper boys, learning early the value of responsibility and hard work. He grew up in a neighborhood rich with friendship-filled with people who would become lifelong friends, too many to name, but all deeply meaningful.

Arthur shared more than 40 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Mary Frances. Together, they raised two children, Yanina and Bryan, and Art took great pride in being an active and present father. He coached both his daughter’s and son’s soccer teams, showing up not just as a coach, but as a constant source of encouragement and support.

Later in life, one of Arthur’s greatest joys was becoming a grandfather to his two grandsons, Makaiah and Sebastyan. He was known as a wonderful sitter, the number one tickler, and a steady, loving presence in their lives. When the boys were diagnosed with Autism, Arthur met the journey with patience, understanding, and unconditional love-remaining a constant source of comfort, safety, and joy.

Above all, Arthur James Yockel will be remembered for his devotion to family, his quiet strength, and the deep love he showed to everyone fortunate enough to share in his life.
