Remembering Sue ~
Assunta M. “Sue” DeBole was born on August 23, 1932, in Rochester, New York. She was the seventh of eight children born to Michael and Lucy DeBole, devoted parents who immigrated to the United States from Italy in the early 1900s. Raised in a loving and close-knit family, Sue grew up bilingual, speaking both English and Italian, and often fondly reminisced about her mother baking homemade bread each day-a memory that stayed close to her heart throughout her life.
Sue was a proud graduate of Jefferson High School in Rochester. As a young woman, she thoughtfully considered a vocation to religious life, reflecting her deep and abiding faith. After graduation, she began a successful career as an executive secretary at IBM, where her work afforded her opportunities to travel and experience life beyond her hometown. Eventually, Sue chose to retire early, stepping away from corporate life to focus on what mattered most to her-family, service, and faith.
A woman of remarkable generosity and compassion, Sue devoted much of her time and energy to helping family members in need. She was known for her caring spirit, selflessness, and willingness to give freely of herself. Her faith in the Catholic Church and her Lord Jesus Christ remained her constant anchor, guiding her through every season of life.
For many years, Sue shared a home with her beloved sister, Antoinette, whose passing in 2023 was a profound loss. Now, Sue rejoins her family in the presence of God, embraced in the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Surely, there is a mansion prepared for her.
May Assunta M. “Sue” DeBole rest in eternal peace.
