Barbara B. Romanofsky

Greece: It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara B. Romanofsky, beloved wife, mother, and compassionate nurse, who departed from this life on June 25, 2026, at the age of 83. Barbara was born on January 19, 1943, the only child to Elmer & Evelyn Bissell. Elmer was a salesman for Whelpley & Paul Optical and Evelyn was a homemaker.

Barbara was a graduate of Our Lady of Mercy High School and earned her degree in nursing from St. Mary’s Hospital. She started work at St. Mary’s Hospital and eventually moved to Rochester General Hospital. She worked in the Premature Intensive Care Nursery for 25 years.
She met her husband, Henry, at St. Mary’s Hospital. Henry and Barbara enjoyed many cruises together. They loved animals, their two Chesapeake Bay Retrievers, Chesie and Rosa, were very special to them both. Their children are Mark and Todd.

Barbara enjoyed everything crafts, antique collecting, flower gardening and spending time on Seneca Lake. Barbara also enjoyed sewing, needle point, teddy bear making and reading.

Barbara was tenacious, loving, caring and respectful. She took great pride in anything she did, especially her work with babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Because of the challenging nature of her profession, she was nicknamed McGyver for her technical skill and clever nature.
The most important thing to Barbara was spending time with her family and being a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Barbara is survived by her loving husband, Henry Romanofsky; sons, Mark (Tammy) Romanofsky & Todd (Kelly) Romanofsky; grandchildren, Nicholas (Dana), Alexander & Benjamin.

Services were held at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations can be made in Barbara’s name to the Humane Society at Lollypop Farm, 99 Victor Rd, Fairport, NY 14450.
