Additional Information June 17, 2011, surrounded by her loving family. Bernice was born in central New York near Skaneateles Lake and lived on a farm until she went to college at Cortland. It was there that she met Newton Hall. After he finished his service in the Army during WWII, they were married in 1946 and lived in Cortland, until they moved to Rochester with their twin daughters in 1952. Bernice taught elementary school for many years. In 1954 they were blessed with another daughter. Later on Bernice worked at: Naum Brothers in the advertising department, as a receptionist for Dr. Cable, and at Western Auto in their office. Music was a big part of Bernice's life. She sang, played the piano, and was a member of the church choir for years. Bernice never lived in a house without a piano, and all those who lived there with her were blest by what they heard. Bernice was well versed in the arts of canning fruits, making jams, pie making, baking, and making lots of other wonderful recipes that were handed down to her from previous generations. What did Bernice do for fun? She loved to play cards, and for years her bridge club was a monthly delight. One of her favorite card games was Black Jack. Bernice and Newt made several trips to Las Vegas, where she had wonderful fun at the Black Jack tables. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, spoiling her grandchildren, and serving in many capacities at Greece Baptist Church. Bernice was a long time member of this church, where her children and grandchildren were nurtured by a loving and faithful congregation. Four years ago Bernice moved to Edna Tina Wilson Living Center. In August of 2009 Newt was called to his eternal home. And now once again Bernice and Newt are united with each other and with those who have gone on before.
