Remembering Katie Catherine "Katie" Bartz was born on June 7, 1988 at Strong Hospital here in Rochester, NY. She was welcomed by her parents, Robert and Maureen Ruscher, and grew up alongside siblings, Kellie and Kristen Williams. Katie attended grade school at Holy Rosary and was a student at Greece Olympia during her high school years. At Olympia, Katie met Damin Ryan, a lifelong friend. At first, Katie's greatest challenge in life was finding happiness (and doing math). However, when she met Dan Bartz, everything changed. He made her world better, brought more joy into her life, and held her whole heart. Katie and Dan were soulmates - an undeniable example of true love. Katie and Dan had three children: Brandon, Nicholas, and Gianna. They were a close-knit family who lived life to the fullest as a team. Together, they went on many vacations; spending quality time at the lake house, going out on the boat, and having fun on the jet skis. Katie enjoyed country music and hip hop, anything she could sing and dance to in the car. Kane Brown and the Backstreet Boys were two of her favorites. She liked watching "Charmed," reality TV, and "Law & Order SVU" (just like her grandma). Family was the most important aspect of Katie's life. She was always there for her family, regardless of the situation. Alongside her children and husband, her mom, dad, and grandma were particularly dear to her. Katie frequently checked in to make sure "mommy is okay" and, every Sunday, she and her father shared a gameday phone call about the latest Dolphins news. Katie thought of her grandma as a best friend and knew that if she ever needed something, Gramma Joyce would be there for her. Katie will be remembered as someone who had a big heart, a wealth of compassion, and an irreplaceable personality. Her selflessness and humor inspired those who knew her and will be dearly missed. She adored animals, never hesitating to bring home a stray she found. Katie's legacy is her family and the endless love she had for them.
