Chuck (Buster) Gould was born on June 4, 1944, the 5th child of John and Jane Gould. He grew up in Penfield, NY and graduated from Penfield High School in 1962. He majored in History at the State University of New York at Geneseo.
Chuck and Pam's 38-year marriage began with a blind date set up by their lawyer and three girls hanging out the window to catch sight of the guy who would end up marrying their mom. They had a loving partnership with many family adventures and shared interests, including family vacations, bowling leagues, and square dancing, which often culminated in a Jim Dandy at Friendly's afterward, in brightly colored dresses with crinolines for Pam and matching shirts for Chuck.
Chuck managed the bowling program at Oak Hill Country Club for many years and was a valued member of their community. He also hosted occasional euchre tournaments there. After retiring from Oak Hill, Chuck continued working as a volunteer in the ICU and later the 2600 unit at Unity Hospital in Greece, NY. He absolutely loved his volunteer work and, at the time of his death, had clocked more than 5,000 hours there.
Chuck was a long-time member of Greece United Methodist Church; his stewardship involved many volunteer roles throughout the years, including teaching Sunday school, mentoring in the youth group, and participating in several Appalachian Service Project trips.
Chuck and Pam have held season tickets to Rochester Red Wings Baseball games for a number of years, and he talked fondly of the friends he made and fun he had at those games. The baseball group scheduled one dinner out a month, and often met between those outings for group meals.
One of Chuck's most happy achievements was getting back in touch with his sons, Dan and Kevin. While he was proud of all of his grandchildren, he had a special relationship with his only grandson, Cameron, and was able to visit him many times in recent years for birthday parties and hockey games.
In addition to being a devoted family man, Chuck was a dedicated animal lover. He made many friends walking his dog, Jasmine, through the neighborhood.
Chuck was a man of simple pleasures. He loved camping, picnics, campfires, euchre, bowling, crossword puzzles, the daily jumble, country music and oldies, funny movies, and he never met an oreo or a bowl of ice cream he didn't like.
Chuck had a terrific sense of humor and a brilliant smile. He was patient and generous and kind, always willing to lend a hand if anyone needed it. We will miss him very much.
Chuck was pre-deceased by his parents; siblings, Barbara Gould, Peggy Guerra, and John (Schultzy) Gould; and beloved dogs, Gizmo, Garth, and Chance.
Chuck is survived by his wife, Pamela A. (Graci) Arnold; children, Dan (Angel) Scully, Kevin (Sharon) Scully, Meredith (Dean) Clason, Jennifer (John) Brest Carolyn Arnold; grandchildren, Cameron Scully, Alyssa Crasilli, Sophia Clason, Emma Clason, Jessica Brest Julia Brest; siblings, Lou Guerra, Dorothy (Mark) Nelson, Bob (Mary) Gould, Larry Gould, Rick (Sharon) Gould Alan (Pam) Gould; several nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends and his beloved dog, Jasmine.
A gathering of friends and family will be planned when the world is a safer place. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Pancreatic Cancer Association of WNY, PO Box 24580, Rochester, NY 14624, Unity Foundation, 330 Monroe Ave, Suite 400, Rochester, NY 14607, or to a local animal shelter of one's choice in Chuck's memory.
