October 27, 2013. Predeceased by wife, Eleanor Redden; sons, Charles Redden Jr Scott Redden. Survived by his children, James Redden, Michelle (Richard) Mount, Charlene Redden, Melissa Redden; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Courtny, Samantha Ashley; great-granddaughter, Mekenna; brother, J. W. Redden; several nieces nephews. Visitation for Charles will be 6-8 PM Friday at the funeral home, 1411 Vintage Lane (between 390 Long Pond Rd) where a funeral service will immediately follow at 8 PM. Charles's Interment will be on Saturday at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery at 12 pm (please meet at the Lake Ave. Gate). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Memorial Processing Center, 6725 Lyons St, PO Box 7, East Syracuse, NY 13057 in memory of Charles. Charles was born on February 12, 1935 in Beckley, WV and was one of 14 children. He moved to Rochester, NY in 1954 due to work opportunities. At age 17, he enlisted in the Army and was a paratrooper with 176 jumps in his career. In 1956, Charles married Eleanor and together they raised their family. Charles was a loving family man who enjoyed gardening, canning, and dancing with Eleanor. Some of his favorite things included old western TV shows, and he was a fan of the Chicago Cubs and Buffalo Bills. Family and friends would best describe Charles as someone who was boisterous, generous, loving, understanding, hard working, and a southern gentleman who was well-liked and lived life to the fullest. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
