David B. Hebblethwaite GREECE - Passed away peacefully on June 30, 2020 at age 79. Dave is survived by his loving wife Shurlee of 56 years; children, Steve (Mary), Chuck (Lisa) Liz (Greg) Hebblethwaite-Yeckel; 7 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; sister Sandy Hebblethwaite; brother Ron (Donna) Hebblethwaite; nieces and nephews. This caring,loving, selfless man was born May 20th, 1941.Born to Charles Betty Hebblethwaite, Dave was the 2nd of 3 children.Sadly, Dave lost his mom to cancer at the age of 6.Several years later, his dad remarried, adding 3 step siblings and 2 half brothers Bob and Chris to the family.Dave enjoyed raising chickens for the 4H club and was quite successful at it earning money selling his chickens. As a teenager, Dave attended Spencerport High school.In high school Dave was on the wrestling team and ran cross country track, both of which he earned several awards for. After Dave graduated with honors in 1959 he entered the Army.While in the Army Dave became certified in Infantry radio mechanic and was stationed in Korea. By the time he was discharged in 1962, he was a Sgt.specialist 5th class. After the Army Dave was hired as a Field Engineer for Burroughs Corp.in 1962.That same year, while on a blind date, Dave spotted another woman in the room sitting in a chair and reading a book.Always the smart, clever,determined man that he was, Dave wound up with the other woman.They went on to be married for 56 years! Dave and Shirl raised 3 children, 2 boys and a girl.He enjoyed taking his family camping every summer and hunting with his sons.He was a great dad.He could build and repair just about anything! A self taught man, Dave was certainly one of the most intelligent person I have ever met! After retiring Dave and his wife built a beautiful home on his land in Wolcott. His idea of heaven,in the middle of nature and surrounded by trees.After a few years they moved back to Greece to be closer to family.Dave enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and especially enjoyed talking politics, religion, history with his grandson Gregory.Dave also enjoyed building model ships and his train sets which, of course, he built his own special foundation for! Dave left this life as he lived it, happy, peaceful, and content.You will be missed dearly. David's family is requiring all guests upon entering the funeral home to wear face masks and use the provided hand sanitizer. Thank you.
