Deborah Anne Weidert

Greece: Passed away early Monday morning December 2nd in her home in Greece, N.Y. at age 72. Deborah was the oldest daughter of Charles & Rose Marie Johnson. She is survived by her sister Diane Barton, her two sons Andy & Jason Weidert, their wives Laurie & Anne Weidert, their children Lila, Noah, Nathan, Elle & Victoria Weidert and her 7-year-old Australian Shepherd, Beau.

Deborah’s Funeral Mass will be held Friday, December 27 at 9:30 AM at St. Lawrence Church, (1000 N. Greece Rd., Rochester, NY 14626). Family and friends are welcome to attend. Please send memorial donations to the ALS Association, https://www.als.org/

Debbie was born at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, NY on August 12th, 1952. She developed a close relationship with her father Charles early off. They enjoyed swimming and boating together at their cottage on Edgemere Drive. She also enjoyed the Italian traditions of her mother Rose Marie Goia immensely. Debbie went to Spencerport High School where she excelled as a student and participated in Cheerleading. At Spencerport Debbie met her future husband (divorced) Rudy Weidert. She began attending Monroe Community College at 19. Her college experience, however, was affected tremendously by the sudden loss of her father to a heart attack. Shortly after her father’s death, Debbie was married and began her life as a wife, mother, and businesswoman. Debbie had a successful career as a real estate broker working tirelessly to find the house of their dreams for her clients. She and her business partner created the woman-owned and operated real estate agency, MD Landmark, which was located in Spencerport.

Although Debbie was a talented broker her greatest passion and success was in her role as mother. Debbie was a loving, selfless, protective and giving mother. A devout Roman Catholic, she raised her two boys in the beliefs of the church. She instilled her values of compassion, tolerance, hard work, personal dignity, and proper manners. Debbie was always supportive of her children’s ambitions and activities. She was a constant in their sports and performances. Her devotion to her children extended into their adult lives and included her daughters-in-law and her five grandchildren. Nana was a constant presence at her grandkid’s activities and always enjoyed a video or picture of what they were up to.

Debbie had diverse interests. She enjoyed bowling, cards, snowmobiling, gardening, painting, architecture, aerobics, Buffalo Bills football, and was an avid reader. She loved the Beatles & Motown. Debbie also enjoyed movies, specifically science fiction and fantasy. Star Trek & Harry Potter were amongst her favorites. Debbie enjoyed cooking for her family, a good steak, pasta, and cherished a morning cup of coffee. She relaxed by vacationing on the beaches of the east coast, Caribbean cruises and Disney World. She was most comfortable, however, within her own home.

Debbie looked forward to pursuing her interests well into her golden years but unfortunately in early 2021 she was diagnosed with ALS and began her 3-year struggle. During this difficult time Debbie stayed strong in her faith and true to her values and was described by nurses and caregivers as kind and generous. Debbie gracefully returned to the lord peacefully in her own bed after being surrounded by all of her family during Thanksgiving. Debbie will always be remembered as a strong, loving, & considerate mother and friend. She will be deeply missed.
