Heaven's Gift -------- Earth's Loss
Donald was a beloved husband, fabulous father, proud grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, wonderful uncle, cousin and friend.
He gave so much of himself and asked so little in return. Humble about his capabilities and the first on the scene if someone needed help.
He was the family's entertainer with his levity and funny anecdotes. Youngest of 3 siblings, dubbed the mischief maker. Family history abounds with stories of his impishness. Everybody loved him!
A magician who fascinated and charmed his audience with magic tricks. He enthralled 3 generations of children. They'd flock to him like the Pied Piper and ask...how'd you do that? Always had change handy for his "antique" slot machine, hoping the kids would get the jackpot.
Donald was a devoted fireman with the Rochester Fire Department for 29 years, he forged life-long friendships with his comrades. He would walk on roofs as if they were flat ground and climb where Angels feared to tread!
Donald was an expert on old movies and could win any trivia contest with his knowledge. He called himself Mr. Von ve Von.
He could build anything from a doll house to a ranch house and fix anything from a tinker toy to a Mack truck. There was always a bag of spare parts left over....and Oh let's not forget the famous "Daddy originals".
He loved the race track and could handicap like a pro. Seemed to always break even, but if he had a "winner" he shared the wealth with the family. " Donald, are you up there placing bets today?
The greatest achievement in his life was his devotion to his wife, Lavinia; daughter, Carol Anne, Grandchildren Great Grands, or just say devotion to his family? He was there for all of us at any time, day or night.
How we'll miss his yearly gardens of tomatoes and peppers And the vadalia onions he'd bring back from Florida. No one's ever tasted better.
Donald's heart was gold and his earthly departure will leave a void in the minds and souls of all who knew him and loved him.
