GREECE - November 30, age 82, Dorothy passed away peacefully, surrounded by family after a valiant battle with lung cancer. Dorothy was born in Lackawanna, NY. She is predeceased by her parents Edward and Josephine Ruszczyk. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, John Laco; children, Lori M. (Honorable Charles A. Schiano, Jr.) Laco-Schiano, Michael (Julia) Laco and Pauline (Brian) Emelson; grandchildren, the joys of her life, Matthew M. Schiano, Esq., Luke C. Schiano, Gillian A. Laco and Maeve J. Emelson; sister, Eileen (Brounislaus) Szematowicz; nieces, Camille Rammer and Andrea Hartzell; several cousins dear friends. Dorothy loved spending time with her grandchildren and their many activities; including track meets, soccer games, graduation, concerts, and school accomplishments. She would often join her family on trips, especially to Cape Cod. She was an avid seamstress often making clothing and costumes for her family. Dorothy loved scratch off lottery tickets and was a great cook. She often taught the family recipes and traditions to those listed here, and leaves behind her polish cultural legacy. Dorothy's funeral mass will be celebrated, Friday, December 4th, 10 AM at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 3003 Dewey Avenue. Private interment at Hillcrest Cemetery, Hamburg, NY.
