Edward moved to the United States when he was 15 years old. He lived on Saratoga Avenue. Edward began working at an early age to help support his family. Edward met Angelina in the neighborhood they grew up in. Edward enjoyed being a contractor and doing carpentry work. He built his own home and owned his own business, "Ed Mattioli Son", until he retired in 1994.
Edward enjoyed any time the family was together, especially over the holidays and at Christmas. He loved nature and enjoyed spending time outdoors including gardening and visiting state parks. Edward was a big soccer fan who enjoyed the Rochester Lancer Rhinos, and Italian soccer teams. He was IACC member, and enjoyed cooking, canning and collecting model cars. Nat King Cole Louis Armstrong were among Edward's favorite types of music. Some of his favorite TV shows included All in the Family, Married with Children, news, documentaries, and Walter Cronkite.
Family and friends would best describe Edward as someone who was hard working, strong-willed, a mentor, traditional, and respectful. He would always do the right thing, was strict, and valued education. He had a great sense of humor and gave nicknames to many people. Edward was very proud of his Italian heritage. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
