Passed away peacefully December 18, 2013. Born July 13, 1926 in Bronx, NY. Elaine is predeceased by her parents, Albert Marion Fairclough. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Ralph Celentano; children, Bernadette (Nicholas) Piccininni, Barbara (Robert) Surash, Therese (Donald) Miller, Anthony (Dawn), Mark (Kimberly); grandchildren, Thomas Piccininni, Gabrielle Piccininni, Mia Piccininni, Isabella Piccininni, Rebecca Surash, William Surash, Paul Miller, Stephanie Miller, Anthony Miller, Gregory Celentano, Marielle Celentano, Robert Celentano, Laura Celentano, Joseph Celentano, Thomas Celentano, Gianna Celentano; brother and sister-in-law, Albert Julia Fairclough; and sister-in-law, Mary Louise Celentano. The family extends special thanks to Elaine's caregivers, the staff of Cottage 200 at Park Ridge Living Center, for their tender loving care.
Visitation is 12-4 PM on Sunday at the funeral home, 1411 Vintage Lane, Rochester. Elaine's Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 AM on Monday at St. John the Evangelist Church of Greece, 2400 West Ridge Rd. Interment in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the School of the Holy Childhood, 100 Groton Parkway, Rochester, NY 14623 in Elaine's memory.
Elaine was born July 13, 1926 in Bronx, NY and loved living in New York City. As a teen, she played softball. She later met Ralph on a blind date and they were married on September 5, 1954.
Elaine always enjoyed birthdays, family, and spending time on the Jersey shore. Her favorite was Long Beach Island. She loved to travel and visited such places as Italy, Spain, Scotland, Ireland, France, and England.
In her spare time, she liked cooking and playing cards with friends in Rockland County. Elaine was an avid reader of magazines, papers, and books, and she enjoyed watching the news and Masterpiece Theater.
Family and friends would best describe Elaine as someone who was feisty, strong-willed, social, generous, thoughtful, and flexible. She enjoyed a variety of different foods and was very supportive of charitable organizations. Elaine's life revolved around her family and her religion. She regularly prayed the rosary and lived her life always adhering to church teachings.
Elaine will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
