He grew up on Lambert Drive and was a Greece resident for 65 years. He graduated from John Marshall High School in 1960 and later earned his Associates Degree in Travel Tourism from Monroe Community College (MCC). During his younger years, Geno loved to play baseball, clarinet, work on cars, and hang out with his friends. He was drafted into the U.S. Army on July 14, 1964 and proudly served as a Tank Vehicle Mechanic (MOS: 63C20) for a Howitzer Battery in Germany. Geno received an honorable discharge from Active Duty in 1966 before transitioning to the USAR. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Marksman Rifle Badge. Geno referred to his time in the Army as some of the best years of his life. It was during his Army years that he made a life-long, international friendship with Werner. He later demonstrated his patriotism for the U.S. as the Post Commander for the Eike-Jordan-Bauer American Legion Post #1501 from 1973-1974. Geno married Susan "Stevie" Stevens of Walton, NY in July 1969. During their 37 years of marriage they greatly enjoyed traveling, raising their two children, and spending time with their family, friends, and pets. Geno enjoyed his work as a purchaser for Eastman Kodak and retired after 26 years of service. He later worked as a buyer for Kal Tool and Die for 6 years. Geno Stevie spent many fantastic weekends south of Buffalo at Rainbow Lake Resorts with wonderful friends. They enjoyed many great laughs around the campfire, establishing their "home away from home". Geno felt very fortunate to have such a wonderful group of friends and family surrounding him throughout his life. He especially cherished the times when his family would get together with Roy, Judie, Ann Marie, Alicia, Nicole, Bonno, and Chelsea to celebrate the holidays and share Sunday dinners. Family friends were tremendously important to Geno and he would do anything for those he cared for. Geno will always be remembered as an amazing husband and compassionate father.
