Greece: Passed away on May 18, 2015 at the age of 89. Flora is survived by her spouse of 67 years, Hector C. Lombard; daughter, Evelyn (John) Smith; son, John Lombard; daughter, Mary Jo (James) Maxwell; grandchildren; Felicia Lombard, Anthony (Diana) Lombard, Gina Lombard, Brian (Courtney) Maxwell and Craig Maxwell; sister in-law, Nancy Chiapperi; brother in-law, Thomas Lombard; several nieces nephews and dear friends.
Flora's funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 AM on Thursday at St. John the Evangelist Church in Greece, 2400 W. Ridge Rd. Entombment in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to Unity Health Foundation, 1555 Long Pond Rd. Rochester, NY 14626 in memory of Flora.
Flora was born on February 6, 1926. She was the oldest child and grew up on Ford Street in the 11th Ward in Rochester, NY. Flora attended Madison High School and she enjoyed swimming, dancing and became a Ping Pong Champion during this time in her life. Early on in her adulthood, Flora worked as a Beautician. Later on, she moved on to a job at Kodak where she worked for over 24 years as an Administrative Assistant. She and her husband, Hector, met in high school and were married at St. Lucy's Church on October 11, 1947. They went on to have three children, Evelyn, John and Mary Jo. Some of Flora's activities and hobbies included gardening, card playing, dancing, knitting and crocheting. She also loved pets and enjoyed dining out. Flora was the New York State President of the Letter Carrier Auxiliary. She was also very active in her community, Flora volunteered at Park Ridge Auxiliary where she gave her time to raise money. During her free time, Flora liked many T.V. shows, such as, General Hospital, Law Order, Rachel Rae and other cooking shows.
Flora was described as a unique and generous person, she was very religious and was devoted to Padre Pio. Her appearance was important to her as she liked to get her nails and hair done and enjoyed wearing jewelry. Flora was also known to keep a very neat home, was well organized and punctual in her time management. Flora was a loving mother and grandmother. She was a caregiver to all those she loved and always put other people first in her life. Flora's memory will live through her many friends and family. She will be dearly missed.
