Francis S. Amato

Frank S. Amato 85, passed away on September 25, 2024, in Rochester, New York. He was born in Syracuse, the son of Patrick Amato and Rosina (Vaccaro) Amato.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years Katejean (Ferland) Amato; daughter, Annette (Brian) Jordan of Glenmont; granddaughter, Alisha Jordan of Albany; sisters, Patricia Carocci, and Joanne Amato of Liverpool; sisters-in-law, Lynn Reese, Kristina (Rick) Bald; brother-in-law, Richard Ferland; nephews, John A. Carocci and David (Concetta) Carocci; grandniece, Caterina Carocci; and grandnephew, GianLuca Carocci.
He completed High School at Assumption Academy in Syracuse and graduated with a BS in Chemistry from Syracuse University. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving as a weatherman at Quonset Point, R.I. and in the Mediterranean aboard the Carrier the USS Forestal. Following his military service, he worked as a chemist at Bristol Labs in Syracuse and at Eastman Kodak in Rochester. He retired from Kodak in 2002. He was honored with a plaque from the EPA for his contribution to the Presidential Green Chemistry Challenge on behalf of Kodak. Frank loved playing music. Since 1982, he played recorder in quartets, trios, and large groups with the Rochester Chapter of the American Recorder Society. He enjoyed sailing with friends.
In Rochester: Calling hours will be Thursday October 3rd from 4-7 pm at Bartolomeo & Perotto Funeral Home, 1411 Vintage Ln, Rochester, NY 14626.
In Syracuse: Visitation will begin at 9:15 a.m. and Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 5th in Syracuse, NY at Assumption Church, 812 N. Salina Street, Syracuse 13208.
