Born December 2nd, 1929, in Cianciana, Sicily, Frank came to the United States along with wife Rose to raise a family in 1952. Initially, he worked as a carpenter for Shepard-Showcase in Rochester, NY and eventually, with his friend, opened the Italian import store, C&C Imports. C&C was where Frank made countless friends and associates and became a well-respected and known entrepreneur within the Rochester Community. After C&C, he opened Franco’s Pizzeria in Gates in 1985. He continued along with his sons, son-in-law and daughter, providing pizza and more Italian cuisine to the Rochester community. He retired in the early 2000’s and later continued (and well into his 90’s), helping his friends in the hospitality industry, including several years at Pino’s Deli on Ridge Road where he was affectionately known as “Frankie”.
He was at his best, behind the counter, joking with customers and interacting with friends. He had an infectious personality and a knack for conversation, building friendships with customers who would come visit frequently to share stories and get their weekly goods.
But above all else, he valued family! Grilling at family picnics, inviting family to dinners, bringing his children to Lancer’s games and eventually attending many birthdays, athletic events, school events, get-togethers and more for his THIRTY PLUS grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In 2023, he visited his beloved hometown of Cianciana, Sicily where he was given the “key to the city” and made a speech in front of the entire community. Cianciana was a great source of pride throughout his life, and he frequently made calls to friends and family there.
He is gone but not forgotten and will live in our hearts forever!
