FRED A. SHANK

GREECE: (1941-2024) With heavy hearts we share that Fred passed on October 5th after a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife, Josephine–the love of his life of 62 years; daughter Cheryl (Phil) Yawman; son, Fred Shank (Nancy Spoto); granddaughters, Shannon Yawman (Connor Walsh) and Megan Yawman; sister, Betty Henehan; brothers-in-law, Gap (Janet) and Chuck Mangione; many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends. Fred is pre-deceased by his infant daughter; mother, Charlotte; and brother John.

Fred was a proud graduate of Aquinas Institute ’59. He spent his early career at Xerox, many years traveling the world as Road Manager for Chuck Mangione, and as Venue Manager for “the Aud” (RBTL). He was a steadfast cheerleader at his granddaughters’ sporting and musical events, camcorder always in hand.

Fred also enjoyed wintering and deep-sea fishing with Jo in Boca Raton/Naples, Florida, was an avid gardener producing a gorgeous variety of flowers, a whiz at Jumble, and cheered for the Yankees and Bills. His trademark big warm smile and witty sense of humor will be missed.

Visitation will be at the Funeral Home, 1411 Vintage Lane, on Wednesday, October 9th from 4 to 7 PM.

A celebration of Fred’s life will take place at Holy Cross Church, 4492 Lake Ave on Thursday, October 10th at 11 AM. Entombment will follow at Holy Sepulchre.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to Aquinas Institute, Class of ’59 Scholarship or Wilmot Cancer Center. Special thanks to the Wilmot team for the care they provided to Fred.
