George J. Reynolds

February 15, 1959 ~ October 16, 2025

Born in: Rochester, NY
Resided in: Rochester, NY

Passed away unexpectedly on October 16, 2025 at the age of 66.

George is predeceased by his parents Gerald & Agnes Reynolds; brother, David Reynolds; grand-niece, Morgana Smith. He is survived by his sister, Sue Reynolds; brothers, Jerry (Grace), Stephen (Donna), Richard (Sue) Reynolds; nieces & nephews, Jackie (Dave) Perotto, Stephanie (Doug Smith) Reynolds Smith, Kevin Reynolds, Colleen (Mike) Thompson, Ryan (Jessica) Reynolds; grand-nieces & grand-nephews Caleb, Sadie, Mackenzie & Joshua Thompson, Kieran & Quinn Smith; many cousins and dear friends; beloved cat, Finn.

George was born on February 15, 1959.  He attended Holy Ghost School and Aquinas Institute (Class of 1977), and spent the rest of his life working for the University of Rochester/Strong Memorial Hospital in many capacities, the most recent being as a driver in the Lab Courier Department.  In that position he made many great friends in the department and in the labs.  His strong focus was always to find ways to best serve the labs’ patients.  He will be remembered for his welcoming smile, friendly disposition, compassion and dedication.  George was recently recognized for his 50 years of service to the University.

George made friends wherever he went – be it school, work, the neighborhood, his social life or his extended family.  He was particularly close with his neighbors in the Westfield Street area.  He was known to all as a gentle soul who always had a cheerful smile and a friendly word who was always willing to help when needed.

Having been raised in a home with cats, as an adult George shared his home with several cats. In order of arrival: Marble, Cookie, Grumpy and Peanut. Then he adopted two more who had been orphaned by his Brother Dave’s death several years ago: Patience and Finn. Six in total, each of whom stole his heart in their own unique way. Seventeen-year-old Finn, the survivor, now has a home with his “Aunt” Sue.  George was an avid animal lover, whose life was enriched by his relationships with his kitties.

George’s life story will be shared during visitation 4:00-6:00 pm on Thursday, October 23rd at the funeral home, 1411 Vintage Lane. A memorial service will follow the visitation at 6:00 pm. Interment at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations can be made in George’s name to the Humane Society at Lollypop Farm, 99 Victor Fairport Rd, Fairport NY 14450 or to an animal welfare organization of your choosing.
