Gilbert B. Beck Rochester: November 18, 2017. Gilbert is survived by his son Robin M. Beck; Robin's mother, JoAnn D. Beck; brother Charles "Bud" (Peggy) Beck; sisters, Joyce (Fabio) Toledo Janice Peel. Several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. For more information about Gilbert please visit www.bartolomeo. Com Gilbert was born in Detroit, Michigan. His family moved to Tampa, Florida before moving to the Rochester area. He was a typical teenager, played football, worked on his car and was an honor student to boot! After he graduated from High School, he went to Loyola University in New Orleans. From there he studied at Boston College Law School. Gilbert eventually went on to practice law at Onondaga Neighborhood Legal Services in Syracuse where he became very involved in social justice, civil rights and assisting those in need. In 1972 he and some friends drove to Washington for an anti-Vietnam war demonstration. Gilbert was a devoted father, making sure to always have plenty of time for his son Rob. He enjoyed bicycling on long rides in the country, touring and becoming well-versed at bike maintenan ce. He was a big fan of blues and jazz music. He loved Jazz 90.1 and "Prairie Home Companion" weekly radio show. He was also a fan of voting in elections, he never missed one! Gilbert found joy in every day. He had a cool personality with a great sense of humor, easy going, intelligent and always had a positive outlook on life. He was also a great friend, once you had him, you knew you had a friend for life. Gilbert's visitation will be Friday 2-5 PM at the funeral home, 1411 Vintage Lane (Between 390 Long Pond Rd.). Gilbert's funeral service will be celebrated Saturday, 10 AM at the funeral home, followed by his burial in Riverside Cemetery.
