Chili: Peacefully on September 11, 2013 at Hildebrandt Hospice. Predeceased by his parents, Anthony Fern Ventura; brother, Joseph Ventura. Survived by his devoted wife, Virginia Ventura; daughters, Gail Pettrone Joan (Mike) Krupnicki; grandchildren, Andrew Krupnicki, Alea Jenah Pettrone, Sunny Krupnicki; "furry granddaughters" Bella Paisly; sisters, Betty Arnone Maryann Marcinkowski; several nieces, nephews dear friends. A heartfelt thanks to the CTICU staff at Rochester General Hospital for their compassionate care, gentle ways many hugs.
Harold's visitation will be held 2-6 PM on Sunday at the funeral home, 1411 Vintage Lane (between Rte 390 Long Pond Rd) His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 AM on Monday at St. Pius the Tenth Church, 3010 Chili Ave. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
Harold was born April 8, 1928 and grew up in Rochester in the Jay and Cameron Street neighborhood. He attended Holy Apostles school and Jefferson High School. After that, he enlisted in the US Army and served in the Korean Conflict in Okinawa.
He later worked at Taylor Instruments, Nalge PKG and Chase Pitkin. He spent the longest time at Taylor Instruments where he was a supervisor.
Harold was married in 1947 in Holy Family Church and eventually had 2 daughters and then 4 grandchildren. Harold loved all holidays and spending time with his family. Some of his favorite activities in his spare time included golf, attending Chili Fitness Center as a Silver Sneakers member, woodworking, tending to his lawn, and he always enjoyed food! Harold was a fan of the Yankees and Buffalo Bills.
Family and friends would best describe Harold as having a wonderful personality and being very likeable. He was always helpful to everyone, was a fighter, and had a great outlook on life. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.
