She is survived by her sons, Stephen (Marianne) Scalise & Allen (Ellin) Scalise; grandchildren, Victoria, Madison, Abigail, Sarah, Garrett & Spencer Scalise; brother, Vito (Janet) Sciscioli; sisters, Diane (Sam) Dugan & Alice (Ron) Pratt; several nieces & nephews. Her funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 11:15 AM at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 3003 Dewey Ave. Interment in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Isabelle was born on December 22, 1933 in Brooklyn, NY to Nunzio & Elise Sciscioli. She grew up with three siblings, Diane, Vito and Alice. Isabelle received her Bachelor's Degree in Education at Nazareth College and pursued a career as a teacher. She then moved on and earned her Master's Degree in Education. Isabelle worked many years as a teacher and eventually retired from Greece Central School District. She taught Elementary School, Vocal and Instrumental Music. Isabelle cherished and loved her sons, Stephen and Allen Scalise. Regular family gatherings during major holidays at Isabelle's house were a staple. Her family has fond memories of singing Christmas carols around her baby grand piano. Isabelle was known for her Italian cooking like manicotti and meatballs as well as her warm Italian hospitality. Her popular Chocolate covered peanut and crunchy chow-mien noodle cookies had a unique look, but they were delicious treats anticipated by her family throughout the holidays. Isabelle's Grasshopper pie was also a family favorite. Her surprise 80th birthday party was one of her most prized times with family and great friends. She cherished every moment and opportunity to be with others, to hear their stories and about their lives. She was fully active and independent up until her death. Isabelle always wanted full independence and lived that dream fully. She was an active member of both Greece Choral Society. Isabelle was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Church and Lakeshore Country Club. She was also a member of WXXI, GEVA and Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra. Isabelle kept a well-manicured lawn and yard at her original home in Greece. She was a member of Greece Performing Arts Society (GPAS) Notable Garden Tour. Isabelle was their musical coordinator. She purposefully bought a computer, and labored with some help to learn the tools of today and use it purposefully. Isabelle was a big Golf and Tennis fan. She played Golf with regular groups at Lakeshore Country Club and loved to share stories about her up and downs on the links at Lakeshore. Isabelle liked listening to WXXI-FM and enjoyed watching The Crown series on PBS. WXXI-FM was always on at her home. Isabelle was devoted to those around her and she had tremendous empathy for everyone in her world. Her love for music was amazing and she was an amazing pianist. Isabelle's career was teaching, however, music was her passion. She was active in music throughout her life right up until her death. During her career, Isabelle was devoted to her students and sharing her passion and love for music with them. Over the year's her former students continued to visit or contact her to say thank you for her energy and commitment. Isabelle was tirelessly dedicated to family and those around her. She truly was the patriarch of her family and was such a strong contributor to society, with a focus on the well-being of others. On a personal note, her hair was always amazing and classy, beautifully cut each week by Laura, her hairdresser. Isabelle lived a full and active life, always enjoying her passions and time with her loved ones. She touched many lives and the positive impact she had on her community will never be forgotten. Isabelle will be fondly remembered by many. She will deeply missed & cherished by her family and friends.
