Additional Information
James was known as "Sandy" all his life. He is best remembered by his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren as a loving, generous and intelligent man. He was always there for them, helping, instructing and encouraging in any way he could.
Joining the military after high school graduation, he served his Country during WWII in the Air Force. He attended radar school and was stationed in France until he was honorably discharged after the war.
Music was one of Sandy's pastimes and he acquired an extensive collection of artists ranging from big band sounds and instrumentals to mellow vocals of such greats as Glenn Miller, Mantovani, Frank Sinatra and Shirley Bassey.
His personal pursuits were many but he excelled at building and woodworking. He enjoyed boating, cruising with his family on Irondequoit Bay and Lake Ontario. He was always ready to travel and he and his wife were able to see and enjoy many wonderful and exciting locations around the world. He not only planned trips for the two of them, but surprised his family many times with travel opportunities. Sandy also enjoyed quiet hobbies like coin and miniature car collecting, reading and learning how to use new and innovative gadgets - the latter always amusing the children in his life. He was an active member of the Caltanissetta Society of Rochester, serving as President in 1977.
In his professional life he displayed a strong work ethic and a desire to succeed. His business ventures and subsequent successes were furthered by great foresight, as dreams were turned into reality. It was these attributes early on in his life that enabled him to found Fiz Beverages, a local bottling and distribution plant that grew into many locations around the Rochester area. He also founded Sanco Enterprises, his own personal company, from which he managed his real estate ventures.
Sandy is sadly missed by his family and friends but will not be forgotten. His life will forever be remembered.
