Rochester: December 4, 2025. Jennie is predeceased by her husband, Liborio Maenza; sons, Philip Maenza & Tony Maenza; grandchild, David Maenza; parents, Maria & Anthony Costanza; daughter-in-law, Arlene Maenza; son-in-law, Tom Spinosa; siblings, Angelo Costanza, Carm Cimino, Joseph Costanza, Margaret DiPrima, Steve Costanza, & Mamie Brunacini. She is survived by her children, Carmie Spinosa & Alan (Kathy) Maenza; grandchildren, Philip (Sommer) Maenza, Jr., Alan (Laura) Maenza, Ann Spinosa, Jenine (Mark) Chinelli, Laurie Spinosa, Tommy Spinosa, Tony Maenza, Tina (Todd) Day, Alan (Jenn) Maenza, Jr., Nicole (Jason) VanAernum; daughter-in-law; Rosa Maenza; 14 great-grandchildren; several great-great- grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins & dear friends.

Jennie’s funeral mass will be celebrated, Friday, December 12th, 10 AM at St. John the Evangelist Church, 2400 W. Ridge Rd. Immediately following, Jennie will be laid to rest in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Humane Society@Lollypop Farm, 99 Victor Rd., Fairport, NY 14450 in Jennie’s memory.

Remembering Jennie Maenza
Jennie was born July 27, 1921, to Marie and Anthony Costanza and was the youngest of her six siblings.

Jennie, 104, lived a full, amazing life with family and friends who adored her.

She married her husband, Liborio (Al), in their hometown Rochester, NY, where they raised their four children with traditional Italian Catholic values. She worked for General Railway Signal and later with Al, she owned Hook’s Farm Market in Gates.

Jennie’s grandchildren remember Hook’s well, and still share memories of their time with her and Papa when they would learn to run the register, count change back to the customers and watch her shave cold cuts and angel hair thin lettuce from the deli slicer
— assembling perfectly stacked sandwiches for the regulars. They would help by stocking shelves, replenish inventory and straighten scattered concrete statues on display for sale in the parking lot.

Jennie patiently taught her grandchildren to knit, sew and crochet as she created beautiful blankets for each of them. She happily crocheted for hours until each one was completed. Jennie loved being a grandmother, she was the perfect grandmother. She made her grandchildren feel loved.

When she went out dancing, she wore pretty pumps, rhinestone dresses and fresh teased hair that only her daughter, Carmie, could perfect. Their favorite songs to dance to were from the 50’s and 60’s and when they danced, they danced in perfect step with each other. It was truly something to see!

She loved playing slot machines with her son, Tony, and sipping Manhattan’s on her front porch watching rainstorms with her oldest son, Phillip.

Jennie loved taking walks, watching old Western movies and watching baseball games with her youngest son, Al— their favorite team, the NY Yankees!

She loved Reuben sandwiches, Belgian waffles, lemon desserts, and especially sauce on Sundays with her family.

Anytime her daughter or granddaughters were wearing something she liked, she would end up wearing it and owning it by the end of their visit!

She loved her visits from her great grandchildren. Seeing all the babies would always make her smile. When she was shown pictures of all the children, she would touch the screen, and her face would light up!

Mama—Jennie was happiest when she was with her family, happy just to be with them, to be a part of everything they did. She never wanted her grandchildren to leave. They would have regular sleepovers: staying up late watching movies, telling stories, belly laughing!

She loved to cook and had breakfast ready before they awoke. A shared favorite was her peppers and eggs. It was a staple when anyone entered her home,,,
“You want some peppers and eggs? I’ll make you some peppers and eggs!”

She loved to teach her grandchildren her recipes: eggplant parmesan, stuffed artichokes, and of course, her sauce. She was incredibly proud of her grandson, David, when he mastered her Bignolatis!

After years of being a widow, she married John Packowski and the two of them shared a companionship until his passing.

It has been a privilege and an honor to have Jennie as our grandmother. She will be missed for the rest of our lives.

Thank you to all the wonderful caregivers at Heather Heights, each of you were her friend; she loved you. Jackie, Lisa, and Nurse Lisa were especially dear to her heart.
